Richard Keys says Klopp has to be worried about £34m Liverpool star who’s ‘still way off’

Richard Keys has suggested Mo Salah’s form will remain “a concern” for manager Jurgen Klopp ahead of the club’s return to domestic action on October 1.

The Egyptian international’s performances, and in particular his relative lack of goals compared to last season, have been questioned.

“I can’t pretend I’m a bit surprised by Liverpool’s stuttering start. I’m sure it will work out, but they look tired,” the beIN Sports presenter wrote on his blog. “Salah is still away and that must be a concern for Klopp.”

The former Roma man, signed for £34m in 2017, has registered just four goals in nine games this term, though a further three assists bring his total goal contributions to seven.

Arguably the notion that Mo Salah appears to be playing poorly is a bit harsh considering the numbers he is still posting in a side that has largely been left unconnected by the often unseen midfield.

Once you factor in a slightly tailored role for our Egyptian king too, from leading goalscorer to playmaker (to facilitate £64m for new kid Darwin Nunez, one can reasonably assume), it’s not hard to see why his Goal numbers have dropped a bit.

That’s partly due to our struggles at the start of the season and it’s true that Salah has yet to reach his dazzling, brilliant prime.

However, with the return of Thiago Alcantara heralding a clear improvement on the pitch, expect that to change soon.
