Manchester United news: Bruno Fernandes admitted it felt like “going back in time when the Red Devils had a terrible start to the 2022/23 season”.
Manchester United did not have the best start to the 22/23 campaign as they lost their first two games. The Red Devils hosted Brighton & Hove Albion in their first game and succumbed to a 2-1 loss.
A much worse result awaited Man Utd in their next match when they took on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. In a disastrous first half, Man Utd conceded four goals and ended up losing the match 4-0.
However, Man Utd have recovered from that terrible start. They have won every Premier League game they have played since then.

Speaking to The Athletic, Fernandes admitted it felt like going back in time after having a rocky start to the season. He admitted that Man Utd feared “ghosts from the past” when things didn’t go their way.
Fernandes said everyone felt confidence was low after such a slow start to the season.
“You could feel it between us, between the fans, in the atmosphere, that it was like going back in time,” he told The Athletic.
“Everyone felt that confidence was low again. Everyone was a little bit unafraid, but they weren’t feeling their best to take the ball. Sometimes I felt like they were the ghosts of the past,” she added.
The Portuguese midfielder also admitted that the team’s energy and confidence hit low levels after conceding a goal ‘out of the blue’ against Brentford.
He also highlighted the importance of having confidence and insisted that ‘it is almost everything in football’.
Man Utd have managed to turn things around after their disastrous start to the season. They got back on track with a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League match.
They followed that up with two 1-0 wins in the English top flight. First, they defeated Southampton before recording another victory by the same margin against Leicester City.
Man Utd then posted four wins in a row when hosting league leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford. The Red Devils outclassed the Gunners to claim a 3-1 victory over their rivals.
Man Utd currently sit fifth in the Premier League points table, with 12 points from their opening six matches. They are six points behind Arsenal, who have played one more game.
