Andre Ward Reacts To Hearn Saying Usyk Won’t Lose A Round To Wilder

By Charles Brun: Andre Ward disagrees with promoter Eddie Hearn’s recent comment that ‘bronze bomber’ Deontay Wilder would not lose a round against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Ward says Wilder’s right hand will find its mark on Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) at some point in the fight, and he will win rounds.

Usyk is interested in fighting popular former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) next, provided he gets past Robert Helenius on October 15 in their main event on the FOX pay-per-view. Sports at the Barclay Center. in Brooklyn, New York.

If an official like Dereck Chisora was able to come close to defeating Usyk in October 2020, Wilder will have success against him as well.

“Yeah sure. That right hand is going to land at some point. Wilder will win the rounds,” Andre Ward said on Twitter in reaction to Eddie Hearn’s comment to Boxing Scene that Oleksandr Usyk wouldn’t lose a round to Deontay Wilder if they fought. .

It’s understandable why Hearn would make light of Wilder’s chances against Usyk because he just beat the British promoter’s flagship fighter, Anthony Joshua, twice in a row.

That’s Hearn’s No. 1 moneymaker in his Matchroom Boxing stable, and it was obviously a crushing blow for Usyk to sink AJ’s ship.

Those Joshua losses have his career effectively on the brink of failure, and his likely loss against Tyson Fury on December 3 will be the turning point.

Joshua is on the edge of the precipice right now, and one more loss will end him as a fighter. As such, it’s pretty understandable why Hearn is trashing Wilder because he makes Joshua look even worse if he’s able to knock Usyk out.

Wilder has an excellent chance of beating Usyk because he will find him at some point in the fight. Joshua landed many of his own power shots in his Aug. 20 rematch and hurt Usyk in the ninth round.

If Wilder landed the same punches Joshua landed on Usyk, it’s reasonable to assume he’ll finish him off.

That would obviously be bad for Tyson Fury because he has plans to fight Usyk in February or March, but hey. when you mess with the bull [Wilder]you get the horns.
