Man City to take Haaland precaution over the international break

Manchester City have a new protagonist in Erling Haaland after his spectacular start to life at the Etihad and, therefore, have taken precautions with the striker during the international break.

To protect the 22-year-old from injury, City sent a member of their medical team to travel with Haaland to Norway to help monitor the striker’s fitness during the international break, reports the Daily Mail.

Haaland suffered a lot last season with injuries while at Borussia Dortmund and with his importance in the Man City team increasing, they don’t want to see that happen again.

The Norway international has already scored 14 goals in 10 games in all competitions and many seem to think the striker has made Pep Guardiola’s side unstoppable.

Erling Haaland now has 14 goals for Man City

Mario Pafundi is the man to travel with Haaland, a sports therapist, who was appointed during Guardiola’s first season in charge of City and has developed a bond with Haaland since the arrival of the 22-year-old summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Pafundi’s role is to maintain the daily grind Haaland has been through at the Etihad Stadium. Something similar has been done by the Premier League champions with Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Agüero in the past.

Norway coach Stale Solbakken confirmed on Monday that Pafundi will join the team ahead of Nations League ties against Slovenia and Serbia, adding that he was recommended by Haaland.

It is unknown if Pafundi will continue with Norway beyond this international window, as Solbakken has confirmed that he would also deal other players.
