Youri Tielemans explains why he didn’t leave the club amid Arsenal interest

Arsenal transfer target Youri Tielemans explains why he didn’t leave Leicester City over the summer.

Tielemans was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer, with Fabrizio Romano confirming to CaughtOffside via his Substack column that the Belgian midfielder was on his target list during the summer transfer window.

Romano also confirmed that Arsenal could rekindle his interest during the next transfer window in January.

Tielemans has now spoken out on why he did not leave the club and decided to stay at Leicester City, at least until the January transfer window.

“I didn’t leave Leicester in the summer because I always said the project had to be the right one,” Tielemans said, as reported by GOAL.

If Tielemans was approached by Arsenal, then it is interesting to hear him say that he needs to find the right project. With his contract due to expire next summer, Tielemans has all the power in the situation, as if he didn’t move in January, he could easily walk away on a free transfer next year.
