Real Madrid news: Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has led a dig at Los Blancos after the latter secured a victory over the former in La Liga.
Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid met in the Madrid derby, with the latter emerging victorious at the end of the match, sealing the 2-1 triumph. Real Madrid took the lead in the 18th minute of the match when Rodrygo volleyed the ball into the net.
The reigning LaLiga champion doubled his lead exactly 18 minutes later through Fede Valverde. The Uruguayan scored from a rebound after Vinicius Jr’s goal attempt had hit the post.
With the victory over their fierce city rivals, Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the 22/23 season.

Speaking after the match, Atletico Madrid manager Simeone criticized Real Madrid for their style of play.
Simeone said Real Madrid reminds him of the Atletico Madrid squad he once had with Diego Costa leading the attack. He suggested that Real Madrid rely on the counterattack, just like the Atletico Madrid team that was once criticized.
“Seeing a team that defends low and goes on the counterattack like that reminds me of the team we had with Costa when they criticized us back then,” Simeone said after the derby loss to Real Madrid.
He also praised Real Madrid’s ability to take advantage of the chances they get and praised Carlo Ancelotti for the work he has done at the club.
And he added: “They have a very good direct game, a quick transition from defense to attack, forcefulness, orderly defense, they play well, they take advantage of opportunities. It is a great job by the Madrid coach. They fight back with significant speed and are obviously talented.”
Meanwhile, victory over Atletico Madrid sees Real Madrid regain the top spot in the league table that was briefly held by Barcelona.
Real Madrid have played six games in the Spanish top flight so far this season and have won all of them. They have 18 points in their first six games. Barcelona, meanwhile, sit second in the league table with 16 points from six games.
Real Madrid will resume the defense of the LaLiga title after the international break in September. They host Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu in their next match.
