Lyndon Arthur Takes Out Walter Sequeira in Six Rounds

Lyndon Arthur won again nine months after losing his rematch with Anthony Yarde when he beat Walter Sequeira, stopping the plucky Argentine in the sixth of eight rounds.

Arthur towered over his Argentinian opponent and worked behind the jab and club rights.

Sequeira was down twice in the third round with a right uppercut and then a right hook, as well as a right to the side of the head in the fourth.

But Arthur never really went full steam ahead for an ending. In fact, he took his time to such an extent that his trainer, Pat Barrett, was starting to get frustrated with him.

Sequeira, who was stopped in four rounds by Yarde on a previous trip to the UK, was brave and took it all in but never threatened Arthur. The end finally came when Arthur landed a right uppercut that sent Sequeira stumbling backwards, referee Darren Sarginson diving in to stop the fight at 2:24 of the sixth round.

“That wasn’t the best performance, but I got the job done and got some rust off the ring,” Arthur said. “I knew it was tough, but I got it out of there.”

The light heavyweight division in Britain is teeming with talent at the moment, with Yarde, Callum Smith, Joshua Buatsi, Callum Johnson and Craig Richards all in the mix.

“This is the best light heavyweight on these shores, and I think this guy is going to conquer the world,” promoter Kalle Sauerland said. “I want him out very, very quickly again. The skill set is there, the uppercut, the left hook, the way he knows how to throw shots and move his body. But we need activity.”
