Popular veteran Gabriel Rosado stepped into the ring as part of the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. The 26-15-1 fighter was facing Ali Akhmedov 18-1 in a scheduled 10-round super middleweight bout.

The first half of the fight saw Akhmedov looking to be the superior of the two fighters. The Kazakh was able to control the pace as well as the range in the fight. Rosado, as he has always been known to do, tried to get close to the man and land hard. However, he was unable to pull off that tactic at the midpoint of the fight.

That said, Rosado had his moments as the second half of the fight began. The question was whether or not the Philly fighter had what it took to turn the tide of the fight entirely. Unfortunately for Rosado, the statuesque and strong Akhmedov was able to continue to hold off his man. The deeper the fight went, the more Akhmedov seemed to be the man in control inside the ring.

Give Rosado credit: At thirty-six, the man still has a lot of fighting left. He just didn’t have enough Saturday to match or beat Akhmedov, who looked extremely impressive. Suffice to say, Akhmedov walked out of the ring with a unanimous decision win.

The end.
