Noel Whelan was impressed to hear that Newcastle could make the January move for Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian star has less than a year left on his contract and is open to closing a pre-agreement with another club starting in January.
Whelan believes Tielemans would be a great signing for Eddie Howe and could help the club make a break in the second half of the Premier League season.
“He would be a great signing, he really would be.
“He could get into most Premier League teams if he left in January.
“He is a fantastic player, aggressive, full of energy. The game seems easy to him at times, you can see he is a standout in that Leicester side.
“He would be a great signing for any team.
“Tielemans could be a great player for Newcastle, he really could be. He is that player who finds the pass, bursts into the box and can also score goals.
