Liverpool ‘would miss a generational talent’ if they don’t sign Bellingham

Jude Bellingham will be the name on the lips of Liverpool supporters for much of next year, a German football pundit has now warned of how much will be lost if we don’t sign the midfielder.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Euro Leagues podcast, Raphael Honigstein said: “Dortmund can no longer hide it. It is the classic general English box-to-box.

“He is one of those players, like Haaland, like Kevin de Bruyne, where they are so good that the club system changes with them.

“Whoever misses it will be missing out on a generational talent.”

It might not be too good to hear that the names mentioned are Manchester City players, but let’s hope they’re used for context, not because of the recent links between the England international and Pep Guardiola’s side.

It is no secret that Jurgen Klopp is supposed to be very interested in the midfielder, it seems that we are prepared to break the bank with him next summer, but we are not the only ones who are willing to do so.

There will be competition from the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea, so it will be vitally important that FSG is able to provide the necessary funds for this deal to be completed.

Many will argue that it’s not just one player we need at this position and with the futures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain up in the air as well, it could be a very busy summer.

However, with just under a year to go until that window closes, these stories will certainly continue to circulate and will be for a long time to come.
