Bill Haney says Gervonta Davis clearly not eager to fight Devin

Bill Haney takes some time to chat with Fight Hype about Devin Haney’s upcoming rematch with George Kambosos and the social media feud between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and his son. The elder Haney, who is clearly a man in the business of his own, makes sure to point out how Tank and Mayweather Promotions have no problem sending shots through social media and otherwise, but somehow never seems to call a Fight.

Bill Haney on DHP co-promoting this next stage of Devin’s career with Top Rank

“Well, I was hearing someone say that we weren’t getting any money. Someone said something about someone getting five times the money, well I can’t say, how about you? Because if (Tank) gets five times as much money, why doesn’t he take care of his trainers five times better than Devin takes care of his people? Hello?! Yes, they need to stop talking about real money.

“You see what it is, it’s DHP, in a co-promotion situation with Top Rank and everyone acts like they’re confused about it. When we were with Eddie and Eddie made the announcement that we were alone, that we’re promotional agents free to do whatever, I mean, you didn’t hear a thing. So everyone talking about this Top Rank shit, stay out of our business and make the fight if you’re trying to make the fight. Other than that, we’ll keep pushing and doing what we’re doing. Period.

“We never say anything about the old man. It’s the people who say that’s what they want to see. So, out of respect for people, we say ‘okay’, but it’s nothing special to me about him himself. But there is something very special about the fans of his and the people who pay for the sport and we take it very, very seriously.

“They do everything except say ‘let’s fight.’ I mean, do we need to give any explanation when they’re going back and forth with Ryan Garcia, or do you have a fighter like Isaac Cruz that no one knows that he made a name for what he did to you? there are so many different scenarios they say, but the one thing you never hear them say is ‘let’s fight now’, not ‘tune up’, not ‘when you get a belt’, not ‘after you get out of contract. ‘ No, I said ‘now!’ You don’t hear that.
