Journalist slams Leeds for pursuing Cody Gakpo transfer deal

Journalist Conor McGilligan criticized Leeds United for making Cody Gakpo the top priority for a January transfer.

The Dutch star decided to stay at PSV this season and turned down moves to Leeds and Man UTD.

The 23-year-old has already started the season on fire, scoring nine goals and adding six assists in 12 games this season for PSV.

McGilligan believes Gakpo is too big a name for Leeds and the Yorkshire club could end up disappointed in the end.

“I’m a bit confused as to how Leeds are going to do this. I’m a bit confused why that is public information at this point from what Fabrizio Romano said.

“And I think there is a little link with Romano and [Andrea] Radizzani. You know, I won’t say any more about that, but I think there’s some news that they give him from time to time.”

“I think if that’s our number one goal in January, I think that’s a bit misleading. I think it’s a bit silly.”
