It is the news Liverpool and the fans have been waiting for, with Thiago awaiting a long break after his absence from the Spanish squad for the September break.
As the 2-1 win over Ajax on Tuesday night showed, keeping Thiago fit is essential to the success of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The 31-year-old has suffered from persistent physical problems throughout his two years at Anfield so far, and that start in Champions League victory was only his third of the season.
After recovering from a hamstring injury, Thiago played a vital role in dominating possession over Ajax, with Trent Alexander-Arnold (85) the only player to have had more touches on the ball than the Spaniard ( 79).
A return to form and form raised concerns that Spain coach Luis Enrique could call up No. 6 for their upcoming UEFA Nations League clashes with Switzerland and Portugal.

But with a 25-man squad announced on Friday morning, there is relief that Thiago has been left out.
Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Pedri, Koke, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Marcos Llorente are the seven midfielders called up by Spain for this month’s qualifiers.
Although physical problems have limited his availability, Thiago has not been involved with Spain since a supporting role at Euro 2021, where he played a total of 64 minutes in four substitute appearances.
Enrique appears to have left behind a player who previously trained with Barcelona B, which will no doubt come as a disappointment to Thiago himself.
For Liverpool, however, it can’t be seen as anything more than a huge boost, as the playmaker can now rest during the international break before a ridiculous run of games between now and the World Cup.
The Reds will play nine times in October, including three Champions League group stage games, and a further four times in November before reaching the tournament in Qatar.
That means 13 games in just 43 days, averaging one every three days.
If Thiago can stay fit throughout that career, he could be instrumental in Liverpool reviving their fortunes after a dismal start to the season.
