TG4 TV Debut for Paddy Donovan

Paddy Donovan will make his television debut on TG4 next Saturday.

The boxer, who has fought in front of cameras before, will not appear in the ring during the Irish-language station’s latest boxing broadcast, but instead will provide his input for an eagerly-awaited undercard.

The undefeated Andy Lee-trained prospect is currently training in Morcombe, England, and is part of Joseph Parker’s camp ahead of the heavyweight showdown with Joe Joyce.

That Parker-Joyce clash is scheduled for September 24, but ‘The Real Deal’ will not be present as he will be ringside at the Europa Hotel as part of the TG4 team.

The Limerick southpaw will share his fighting knowledge throughout a card headlined by Eric Donovan. [15(8)-2(2)] EBU EU super featherweight title fight with Khalil El Hadri [13(7)-1(0)] on September 24.

Former European Champion Tommy McCarthy [18(9)-3(1)] also appears as Conor Quinn makes his Irish debut, Owen Duffy and Dominic Donegan meet in the clash of Cavan, while Owen O’Neill and Martin Quinn battle it out in a highly anticipated Belfast vs Dublin match.

Jason Quigley, Kenneth Egan, Spike O’Sullivan and Ryan Burnett have all provided experts for TG4 before, but no one except the man from Limerick has been confirmed as of yet before this show.

Dublin heavyweight Thomas Carty, a TG4 favourite, has thrown his hat into the ring and looks like an ideal candidate.

He speaks Irish and is a teammate of bill-topper Eric Donovan’s Celtic Warrior.

Donovan was last seen in the ring defeating English boxer Tom Hill in Belfast on August 6. He has set his sights on winning the junior world title next and the Top Rank star’s appearance on TG4 will have people wondering if the boxing-friendly network is interested in airing a Paddy Donovan fight in the future.
