David Moyes was the latest Premier League boss to speak out against Todd Boehly’s suggestion that the Premier League implement an all-star clash between north and south.
This follows after Jurgen Klopp ridiculed the concept, a proposal former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher branded “incredibly arrogant”, citing concerns over match scheduling, a point the Scot evidently agreed with. .
The difficulty, of course, remains that an ever-increasing injection of American investment into the English top flight means such influence on the game and how it is structured in England is likely never to go away.
To be absolutely clear, we at Empire of the Kop are far from being against new ideas, particularly if they benefit the sport, the infrastructure and the coaching and playing staff in general, although it is extremely difficult to see more games being added. al the schedule would benefit anyone.
