Coach handed 1-game ban, Nunes chatter & ‘keeper back “very soon” – Latest LFC News – Liverpool FC

Liverpool have seen a manager pushed off the touchline, Trent earn an international call-up and a harrowing injury to a youngster on loan, as the wait for the next match continues.

Coach sanctioned and fined

Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg was charged by the FA after the drama that ensued in a late win against Newcastle last month.

Both Achterberg and Newcastle performance boss Daniel Hodges were accused of “inappropriate” behaviour, with the Reds manager alleged to have used “abusive and/or insulting gestures”.

The FA has handed down a decision, with both Achterberg and Hodges receiving fines and a ban.

Achterberg has been fined £7,000 by an independent regulatory commission and is banned from playing on the touchline during a match, meaning he won’t be on the bench against Brighton on October 1.

I bet Newcastle are still thinking about that extra time, but they shouldn’t have tried to waste as many minutes as they did! Have they learned the lesson?

Trent Alexander-Arnold has earned himself a call-up from England for the September international break, even after a bumpy start to the season: the Three Lions play two games this month. Paul Glatzel had heartbreaking luck in his young career and continued into the middle of the week with a hamstring injury just 13 minutes after his return, one can only hope it’s a minor issue! Caoimhin Kelleher has yet to return from injury but was seen in training on Monday, with Ireland manager Stephen Kenny saying he expects him to be back “very soon”.
