the victory he is missing – World Boxing Association

Gennady Golovkin has marked an era and impressed an entire generation with his impressive punching power and devastating style. He is one of the strongest fighters in recent times and has taken down all but one of his opponents.

His rivalry with “Canelo” Álvarez has been one of the most prominent in recent years and the Mexican has been the stone in the Kazakh’s shoe. He is the one who caused the only loss and the only tie in the “GGG” record, so he wants a rematch this Saturday.

Coming into his first fight against Alvarez in September 2017, Golovkin started out as the favorite of many of the specialists. The way he had knocked out so many opponents, his physical strength and his tireless condition seemed to put him a step above Guadalajara.

He had a tough fight in which he had some good moments but he found himself facing a determined “Canelo” who came face to face and after 12 rounds of good action he had to settle for a draw.

Given the good fight they had and the rivalry that continued to grow, they returned to the ring for a second fight in September of the following year. The expectations were high and again it was a very close fight with good exchanges but this time the Mexican was able to take a slight advantage to win by majority decision.

It was the only loss of Golovkin’s career, who went on to defeat Steve Rolls, Sergey Derevyanchenko, Kamil Szeremeta and Ryota Murata to become unified middleweight champion.

But now he will gain weight because he has accounts to settle with Canelo. Now the specialists give him fewer opportunities because of his 40 years and his weight gain, but GGG is not a fighter to underestimate and he wants to get the victory that he lacks.
