Juve’s Gatti competing with Toro’s Buongiorno for Italy callupJuvefc.com

For several decades, Juventus has proven to be the backbone of the Italian national team, providing a solid block of players for almost every major tournament.

Unfortunately for both the Bianconeri and Azzurri, neither are enjoying a brilliant 2022. However, both teams are hoping to bounce back with the help of new blood.

After turning heads with Frosinone last season, Federico Gatti earned a transfer to Turin. Although Torino were initially close to closing the deal, it was Juventus who snatched his services at the last moment during the transfer session last January.

However, the Granata have a solid and promising defender of their own in the form of Alessandro Buongiorno. The 23-year-old is now earning more playing time following Gleison Bremer’s departure.

According to La Stampa via JuventusNews24, Gatti and Buongiorno are competing in another for Italy coach Roberto Mancini’s call-up.

Although the new Juventus man has only appeared in one match so far this season, the source identifies him as the favorite to take the job.

The 24-year-old made his international debut last summer in a UEFA Nations League match against England, earning high praise for the way he handled Tammy Abraham and Harry Kane during the goalless draw.
