Former Tottenham winger Marcus Edwards dreams of Premier League return

Former Tottenham star Marcus Edwards has confirmed that he would like to return to the Premier League one day.

Edwards began his football career at Tottenham but failed to make a Premier League appearance before being sold to Vitória de Guimarães.

Since moving to Portugal, Edwards has really moved on, earning himself a move to Sporting Lisbon. Walking away from Tottenham at a young age was a brave move on Edwards’ part, but it seems to have already paid off, as the young winger played a pivotal role in their Champions League win over his former club Tottenham on Wednesday.

However, after the match, in an interview with BT Sport, Edwards confirmed that he would like to return to the Premier League one day.

“It’s my home, so of course I want to go back there. [to the Premier League] One day. I’m just focused on what I’m doing here for now,” as broadcast by Sky Sports.

Sometimes if you are not offered regular football in England, moving abroad to further your career can be very beneficial. We saw it with Jadon Sancho, who made the decision to go to Borussia Dortmund to express himself and now returns to the Premier League with Manchester United.

If Edwards can emulate a career path similar to Sancho’s in the years to come, then he’s certainly doing something right.

Unfortunately for him, Tottenham were unwilling to give him a chance in the first team, but he could be living to regret that decision after the way he has progressed.
