TalkSPORT’s Simon Jordan has called Manchester United striker Anthony Martial an “entitled fool”.
As reported in The Daily Mail, Jordan hit out at Martial after the Frenchman’s comments about United’s previous managers.
Martial accused former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and José Mourinho of treason, as they had asked him to continue playing with blows but then failed to reinstate him to the first team after recovering from the blows.
“I regularly played injured. The coach tells me that he needs me, so I play. Obviously, I ended up getting injured definitively and when I came back, I was done, I didn’t play anymore”.
“They ask you to sacrifice yourself for the team and behind the scenes they fire you. For me it is almost a betrayal,” said Martial.
Jordan took offense to those comments and responded to the 26-year-old on talkSPORT radio.
“So basically, arrogant, titled little jerk, his manager offered him an opportunity to see his way of thinking, he perceived it as a betrayal,” he said.
Martial endured a torrid season last time. He failed to impress at United in the first half of the campaign and was then loaned out to Sevilla, where he once again struggled to make a positive impact.
At the time, it seemed that Martial’s career at United was over and the club would do well to get some money back for the striker by selling him this summer.
However, a string of excellent pre-season performances alongside Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, coupled with Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to leave, meant that new manager Erik ten Hag gave Martial a lifeline to resuscitate his United career.
Ironically, Martial is injured but impressed in his only appearance of the season in the win against Liverpool. The cameo underlined his importance to Ten Hag’s plans at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman clearly feels that Martial could be of use to him this season as he attempts to build a fluid attacking style.
