Anthony Joshua hasn’t spoken to Amir Khan since wife accusations

Amir Khan admits his rash accusations against Anthony Joshua about sleeping with his wife Faryal ended their relationship.

Despite being two of the UK’s biggest names over the years, Khan’s jaw-dropping tweets caused an irreparable rift to this day.

The incident in 2017 sent shockwaves through the ranks of British boxing as fellow boxer Joshua’s image took a beating at the time.

AJ’s social media activity was called into question after a “hacking” incident. Bolton Khan’s star explosion only added more fuel to the fire.

Why did Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua fight?

“I had the problem with Anthony Joshua, so I feel really bad because at the end of the day. But I put him in the line of fire for no reason,” Khan told The Overlap.

“I mean, he was a friend of mine. Since then, we have never spoken. So I also lost a good friend because of it.”

Khan added what set the Olympic silver medal winner off: “What happened was my wife, her and I weren’t talking. She sent a message that said: ‘Look, a lot of fighters send me messages. And since she showed me a message from Anthony Joshua saying hello or something, I lost it.

“I said, ‘Who the hell is he, waving at my wife?’ – Even though he was fine with me.”

“Maybe he was being respectful; all he was doing was being respectful. Nothing ever happened,” he told Gary Neville. “I went crazy with everyone.

“And all my peers were like, ‘Are you crazy? – You just tweeted something.” But he is a good guy.

“Even his own personal friends were calling me. I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to talk to you guys.

Selfish

Clarifying his state of mind at the time, the amateur competitor from England whose brother Haroon represented Pakistan in unpaid code matches, concluded: “I get too selfish.

“I started making a lot of mistakes. I started to become unpleasant, to become a bad person.

“It was never me, and I was never happy with myself doing all these things.”

Joshua would later say that he wishes he had slept with Faryal after facing so much hate from fans.
