Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Ajax: Thiago & Jota start – Liverpool FC

Anfield will host its first Champions League match of the season when Liverpool take on Ajax tonight, with Thiago and Diogo Jota in the starting line-up.

This will be the Reds’ last game of September, with Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea postponed, and an international break on the horizon.

After a rocky start to the season, Jurgen Klopp will be keen to ensure his side go into half-time in good spirits, and a positive result here is required to kick-start Liverpool’s Champions League campaign.

Alisson retains his place in goal and hopes he won’t be as busy tonight as he was at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last week.

There are two changes in defense. Trent Alexander-Arnold starts at right back, Joel Matip enters at full back alongside Virgil van Dijk, with Kostas Tsimikas at left back.

Fabinho will anchor the midfield, along with Harvey Elliott and the return of Thiago.

Mohamed Salah starts on the right flank of Liverpool’s attack, with Luis Díaz on the opposite flank and Diogo Jota in the middle.

Klopp has again chosen to name 10 substitutes, despite having the option of signing 12, with Fabio Carvalho back in the squad after missing the trip to Naples due to injury.

Liverpool: Alison; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Elliott, Thiago; Salah, Diaz, Jota

Substitutes: Adrián, Davies, Gómez, Phillips, Bajcetic, Milner, Arthur, Carvalho, Núñez, Firmino

Ajax: Pasveer; Rensch, Timber, Bassey, Blind; Alvarez, Berghuis, Taylor; Mountain wine, Tadic, Kudus
