Jake Paul fails to deliver on promise with latest sad boxing effort

No matter how you look at it, YouTuber Jake Paul is still not facing a qualified professional boxer on the coveted Showtime platform.

Many boxers around the world would give anything to be in the position that Paul is on television. The least the former Disney star can do is step up.

But announcing a fight against MMA legend Anderson Silva, a “boxer” who fought to fire semi-retired Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., hasn’t improved his standing among true boxing fans.

Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva

Silva was once a major force in the UFC. However, he is now 47 years old and a decade after his prime. In boxing terms, bragging about his career best win against Chavez Jr. is nothing to write home about.

The marks against Chavez and his career are set in stone for all to read. It’s a sad effort by Paul.

Despite the apparent lack of improvement in their fights, Paul and his team continue to insist that the events are unmissable. For YouTube fans, maybe they are. But to any boxing fan worth their salt, these events are a blatant joke.

Speaking of his latest effort to gain some traction in the sport, Paul deliriously said: “Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva is the most versatile fighter the world has ever seen.

“Just a year ago, he outpointed boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He showed the world why he is often referred to as the greatest [MMA] fighter of all time.

“Every pundits from MMA to boxing have said that Jake Paul will not fight Anderson Silva. Jake Paul was told that he was afraid of Anderson Silva, and that Jake Paul would lose to Anderson Silva.

“Well, for all you non-believers: Jake Paul is fighting Anderson Silva.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to share the ring with the best UFC striker of all time.

The spider

“On Saturday, October 29, I will humbly walk to the ring, touch gloves with a living legend, and do my best to exterminate ‘The Spider.'”

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Paul’s promotion company, added: “Jake Paul continues to take on challenges that other professional wrestlers at his level of experience and popularity never have.

“Jake appreciates his platform and always aims to provide fans with a compelling product that drives engagement.

“Anderson Silva is unequivocally the most exciting forward in UFC history. Those skills have translated into his professional boxing career.

“It can certainly end Jake’s undefeated streak.

“Most Valuable Promotions is honored to have one of the GOATs in combat sports headlining our event. He’s already a Hall of Famer in our books.”

The circus keeps rolling. Do not be fooled.
