Sky Sports: Recent Premier League decision will be ‘difficult to stomach’ for Newcastle

Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson backed PGMOL’s decision to drop Lee Mason from VAR duties after his controversial decision during the Newcastle versus Crystal Palace game.

Newcastle had a goal disallowed early in the second half, which ultimately resulted in Newcastle failing to win against Palace.

Referee Michael Salisbury ruled out the goal after consultation with VAR officer Mason, who was subsequently removed from his VAR duties.

Dropping Mason won’t change the decision though, and Robinson feels sorry for the Newcastle fans.

“It’s hard to digest, but you can’t reverse the decision and you can’t reverse the results. What other punishment can you give the officers?” Robinson said, speaking to Football Insider.
