Spar video sparks Kell Brook vs Conor Benn or Amir Khan 2 talk

Kell Brook returns to training, sparking rumors that the Sheffield man could be a possible backup to Chris Eubank Jr. on October 8.

Trainer Dominic Ingle posted a video that Brook subsequently shared despite the former world champion retiring.

The fact that the clip was released on the day Chris Eubank stated that he intended to get his son out of a fight with Conor Benn gave it even more punch.

If Eubank Jr. pulls out of the Benn fight, Brook would be a solid replacement instead.

Any replacement would have to be a big name given the importance of the Eubank Jr. vs. Benn event. Tickets sold out in minutes for the O2 Arena clash, and with Brook returning from beating Amir Khan, Pay Per View is still up for grabs.

Benn vs. Brook can still get the exact PPV figure as Eubank Jr. and would certainly be a lifesaver if he gets ratified in the next few days.

However, Ingle said that Brook was just “sweeping the cobwebs away,” which doesn’t bode well for prep time.

Ingle also mentioned Amir Khan instead of Benn, although this could be a red herring to throw fans off. If Eubank Jr. doesn’t bow out, any Brook return could be solely to lure Khan back into the ring.

Fans previously worried about Brook in retirement. He put on weight and “looked wasted”, according to some UK boxing commentators.

“He seems lost and as if something is missing, something he will never get back. Anyone who has suffered a real loss will understand. He looks depressed. I hope you are good. It looks like he is struggling”, were just some of the jokes about Brook.

“He will be the figure of Prince Nassem in no time. How the heck do you gain so much weight fast? WTF.”

“It will happen [a comeback], but I can’t get over how different some fighters look when they’re not in camp. George Groves and Paddy Pimblett used to end up pretty chubby.

“That man has gone from throwing chocolate brownies to eating them,” were others.

Benn or Khan 2

Whatever the reason Brook is coming back, he has to do what’s best for him. If it’s a big enough event, in fact, “The Special One” would consider any offer made to it.

Waiting for Eubank Jr. would mean money to cover training expenses. So it’s a no brainer for Brook to return to the gym.
