Manchester United star Marcus Rashford never came close to joining Paris St Germain at any point in the summer transfer window.
Rashford was at one point linked with the French giants, with reports claiming his brother and agent met with the club to explore the possibility of a deal.
However, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs via GFFN, PSG showed no interest in Rashford.
Jacobs says Rashford’s agent was piqued interest to allow the player and his client to gain an advantage over United in contract negotiations.
The 24-year-old has one year left on his current contract with United, with the option to extend it for a further year.
An earlier report emerged today that Rashford was among a number of stars whose one-year extension clauses would be triggered by the club.
According to Jacobs, PSG do not view their inability to bring in Rashford and Bernardo Silva from Manchester City as a failure, as there were no legitimate attempts to secure their signatures.
“PSG do not consider Marcus Rashford a ‘missed’ target.”
“The club always felt that Rashford’s agent was using suitors as leverage to take Manchester United.”
“As a result, PSG do not consider that they have ‘failed’ to find either player, as neither of them was likely to move to the Parc des Princes.”
Rashford has been in fine form since the start of the season and if his form continues, he is likely to be offered more lucrative terms by the club hierarchy.
The player has scored three goals so far and has provided a similar number of assists. He certainly seems to have figured out the best form of him.
