Ex-Liverpool target ‘likes’ Reds; Klopp’s men want him in January – report

Liverpool are said to have lined up a move for Ibrahim Sangare ahead of the winter window in a bid to resolve their midfield injury crisis.

This update comes courtesy of Calciomercato (via Caught Offside), with the outlet claiming that the Ivorian “likes” both the Reds and West Ham in the Premier League.

The Merseysiders, at one stage in the summer transfer window, were thought to be somewhat interested in the 24-year-old, although they only saw PSV give the midfielder a contract extension to keep him in the Netherlands until 2027.

Halfway through the season (not forgetting the player’s lengthy signing), one would expect the Dutch side to charge a premium and a half for the former Toulouse star’s services.

Thiago, Liverpool, Sangare
Thiago Alcantara breathed new life into Liverpool’s midfield after his cameo in Napoli, though his arrival came too late in the match.

While we’d be delighted to see quality talent emerge anyway, it would seem somewhat embarrassing to have made a late move for Sangare given that clubs could have acquired him for the relatively meager £31.9m that was the value of his old release clause.

Ultimately, however, we know that our recruiting team is not one to fall for the market and if we are willing to pay a large fee to achieve our goal, it is because we truly believe it is worth it.
