Luca Toni says only poor players move to Serie A now. Do you agree?Juvefc.com

The Italian Serie A is one of the biggest leagues in the world and the competing clubs show their class in Europe every season.

Because it is one of the most popular competitions, several players want to strut there.

However, in recent seasons, Serie A clubs have struggled to compete with their counterparts from abroad.

In the last transfer window, Italian clubs spent just over €500m on new signings.

However, Premier League teams spent more than €2.2 billion to bolster their squads.

Former Italian striker Luca Toni now claims that Serie A struggles to attract the best names.

He said, as quoted by Football Italia:

“Dybala in Rome, a free transfer. No longer do great players arrive from abroad, we only sign those who are at the end of their career or who have failed elsewhere”.

Serie A has some of the best players, but Toni hits the nail on the head considering we’ve lost some of the best talent in the Premier League and Bundesliga this summer.

It’s also hard to see a player in his prime moving to Serie A from the Premier League.

Serie A needs to find rich new owners to buy their clubs, that’s a sure way to spend money and attract top players.
