Will Fish appreciates guidance from Darren Fletcher and Harry Maguire – Man United News And Transfer News

Following his move to Hibernian on loan, Manchester United youngster Will Fish came out and praised Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Darren Fletcher for their guidance.

The 19-year-old signed a last-minute loan deal with the Scottish Premiership side on deadline day.

After a disappointing loan spell last season at County Stockport, the England youth international is hoping for better times in Edinburgh.

Speaking to The Edinburgh Evening News, Fish explained how Edinburgh-area native Darren Fletcher encouraged him regarding the move saying: “Hibs is a great place to go, a huge club, with huge fans, so he thought what same as me.”

“He is great with us. He oversees the daily training sessions of the first team and helps classify the players who take the next step towards the first team from the age of 23”.

After being called up by new manager Erik ten Hag for United’s pre-season tour, Fish received much support from club captain Harry Maguire and center back Raphael Varane.

Eager to learn from the experienced duo, Fish said, “Big names like Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane teach you the game, the little tricks and all that.”

He further added: “I am grateful for your help. Harry was great. I joined the tour late, but he brought me into the group and helped me.”

The young star is already looking to the future and is quite ambitious as he lays out his plans to one day play for the Red Devils on a constant basis.

“The main purpose of going on loan is to prepare yourself to hopefully one day come back and play for them.”

Fish has captained Manchester United’s Under-23 team at the age of 17 and is looking to develop his leadership skills.

“At a club as big as Manchester United, being captain in any group is a privilege, so I have to bring those qualities here to Scotland and I hope they show.”

A classy defender on the ball with great aerial ability, Fish’s shyness has often been his weakness, but the Hibernian staff are already on it and have been advising him to “try to be aggressive”.

However, to make his debut for Lee Johnson’s side, hopefully there are plenty of appearances to come for the young defender who is eager to impress and develop.
