Errol Spence Will Be “easy Work” For Crawford Says Amir Khan

By Brian Webber: Amir Khan says Errol Spence Jr will be an “easy job” for Terence Crawford in their welterweight unification fight.

Khan knows what it’s like to share the ring with Crawford, and he thinks he’ll have too many boxing skills for the IBF, WBA and WBC 147-pound champion when it comes time to fight for welterweight supremacy.

The way Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) looked in his war with WBA 147-pound champion Yordenis Ugas last April, it’s going to be tough for Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) to do a “job.” easy” from him as Khan is predicting.

What makes it difficult to accurately gauge what the 34-year-old Crawford is capable of facing Spence is the lack of high-caliber opposition on his 14-year résumé.

The talented fighters Crawford has fought, guys like Yordenis Ugas, Shawn Porter and Ricky Burns, were old and out of date when he faced them.

At welterweight, Crawford’s résumé is very slim, making it difficult to know how he will fare against an elite fighter like Spence.

“Spence or Crawford? Okay, I’m going to go with my guy, Crawford,” Amir Khan told ESNEWS, choosing his good friend Terence Crawford over Errol Spence Jr if/when their unification fight takes place.

“In that fight, we have seen Spence trapped and nervous. But with Crawford, no one has ever seen it. [hurt]. He’s beaten guys with speed, he’s beaten guys with power and he’s beaten guys who were good fighters. He has beaten guys who were good fighters, just like Spence.

“I feel like Crawford has the upper hand in that fight. I think he will go all the way, but I think it will be an easy job for Crawford because he will just box him. I see Spence approaching him, running towards him and applying pressure.

“One thing about Crawford is that he is also a good fighter.

“Crawford and I did a couple of rounds in a fight and trained together. One thing about Crawford is that he’s a genuinely nice guy. When I was camping in the mountains when I went from Omaha, Nebraska to Colorado Springs, just to be part of the team, just to help me out and go running and stuff.

“He was a great help, and then he came to the UK with me. Yeah, it was so good to have him there,” Khan said.
