Chelsea Transfer News: Baba Rahman wants to leave Chelsea permanently

Chelsea loan Rahman has spoken about his desire to join Reading permanently.

While speaking to the media about this, Ghanian International said: “If the possibility arises [to sign permanently] So why not, I’m taking him, but it’s the two clubs that have to deal. I feel at home here, I love it”.

He further added: “It was always a possibility to come back here, I was in contact with the coach all summer. I watched three preseason games, so it was always a possibility. It was very frustrating because I wanted to go out and have a proper pre-season, but only the two clubs were trying to solve the transfer problems.

After signing for Chelsea in 2015, Rahman was unable to settle into the starting eleven. He then spent the next few years with various clubs including Schalke, Reims, Mallorca, PAOK before finally joining championship club Reading.

Rahman appeared in around 30 games for Reading last season and consistently put in strong performances. However, that was not enough to get him some minutes at Chelsea.

Chelsea also signed Marc Cucureilla from Brighton and also owns Ben Chilwell. So when Reading wanted to bring the left-back back on another loan, the Blues were quick to let him go.

Rahman’s contract with Chelsea is coming to an end in 2024, so it’s possible he could have a permanent move next season.

The left-back already made his second debut last Sunday when he appeared in Reading’s 2-1 win over Stoke City. However, he has yet to start a game this season.
