The 52nd Annual NABF Convention kicked off today at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Business was the order of the day while pleasure took over the evening segment. At 2:30 pm, the board of directors had a closed meeting where they discussed the growth of the organization and future plans for continued expansion. A new addition to the board of directors is former California State Athletic Commission Chairman John Carvelli.
President Duane Ford also wants to build a bigger social media presence for the federation and there are several plans afoot to do so. Projections are that this will be the largest NABF convention yet.
The afternoon session “kicked off” in more ways than one, as a backyard party was enjoyed during a screening of the NFL season opener between the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo. Bills. The Bills dealt a knockout blow to the Rams with a score of 31-10.
The Friday session will begin at 9:00 am with meetings that will include guest speakers and videos. After a lunch break at noon, there will be more speakers and videos, followed by a roundtable Q&A segment. Friday night will be free for convention attendees.
The Saturday morning session will have a similar format with guest speakers and video presentations. The afternoon segment will include referee and judge tests. The evening will begin with the annual cocktail party known as the “Personality Enhancement Session”, followed by the annual awards gala banquet and the official closing of the convention.
