Should Pogba recompense Juventus by taking a pay cut? -Juvefc.com

Unfortunately for Juventus and Paul Pogba, their meeting started on a sour note. During the tour of the United States, the midfielder suffered a meniscus injury that caused a chaotic situation afterwards.

While the vast majority (if not all) of the medical experts suggested immediate surgical intervention, the player opted for a quick fix in the form of physical therapy.

Of course the idea did not work. Instead, the player wasted nearly six weeks of his and the club’s time on ill-advised treatment, before realizing surgery was his only option.

While the Frenchman hopes to recover just in time for the World Cup, the Bianconeri will likely not have him available until January.

In his column for TuttoJuve, Massimo Pavan wonders if Pogba should reward Juventus by taking a pay cut.

The Italian journalist highlights that the midfielder is the club’s highest earner. Although sustaining the blow was not his fault, not following the advice of the medical staff made the situation worse.

While Pavan is right, it’s still an unlikely scenario. Unfortunately, the days of Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon are behind us.

Today, the vast majority of top players are looking out for their own interests first and foremost. For example, Pogba’s reckless decision was based on his enthusiasm to be fit for Qatar 2022 rather than making a decision that would benefit him and his club in the long run.
