Loris Karius set to sign ‘short-term contract’ with Premier League club as he looks set to return to England – report

Loris Karius was released by Liverpool at the end of last season and has yet to find a club, but now this search appears to be over, with a return to the Premier League on the cards.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany: ‘Excl. #Karius news: he is about to sign for Newcastle United and has already arrived at #NUFC! Darlow is injured, you should replace him. Karius will pass his medical soon. He then he will sign a short-term contract ‘.

It looks like it will be a brief return to England for the goalkeeper, but it is certainly an interesting move for our former number 1, who is possibly heading to Newcastle this season.

It is sad that the German never had a chance to redeem himself, after the disastrous events for him in Kyiv in 2018 against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

That will always be the way his time in Merseyside will be remembered, perhaps even more disturbing is that it will undoubtedly also be the story of his footballing life.

It sounds like he had his eyes set on moving back to Germany, but let’s hope the North East can provide a happy new home for the former Mainz man.
