Tyson Fury Must Agree To Dec.17th For Joshua Fight To Happen Says Gareth A. Davies

By Charles Brun: Gareth A. Davies believes the only way the fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will take place is if it takes place on December 17. That is the date that Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn are requesting.

So far, Fury has been stubborn, digging his heels in the sand and insisting that Joshua accept either November 26 or December 3.

Like many naïve champions, Fury thinks his WBC title and undefeated record translates to him being the A-side, but not in boxing.

This is the entertainment business, and what’s really important is which fighter sells the most PPVs, and Joshua reigns supreme in that area. As such, unless Fury changes his stance quickly, he can forget about a fight with Joshua.

“If the deadline is today, then they have to say they are going to fight on December 17, and I didn’t think this fight was going to happen anyway,” Gareth A. Davies told iFL TV. “If Fury says yes to December 17, it is possible that he will move on.

“Eight and a half months back and forth from 2020 to 2021 so that there is no fight. That it happens in a week is very unlikely. I love the call. He’s been stealing all the headlines all week.

“I’m glad Joshua agreed. It is a back and forth promotional game. If Tyson Fury says, ‘I accept on December 17, there’s still a chance this fight will take place and they’ll still talk.’

“If he doesn’t, I think it’s too soon for Joshua, and I think it’s too soon for Joshua anyway, frankly. Too soon. Too early,” Davies said.

“You have to understand all the things he did, and it still wasn’t good enough. That’s tough,” Tim Bradley told iFL TV of Joshua’s preparation for the rematch with Usyk.

“So the way he reacted after the fight, it was probably immature, but how did he handle it afterwards? We are humans; We make mistakes. In the head of the moment, how he felt and how he reacted.

“Take the fight. Come on, it’s there,” Bradley said of his hopes that Joshua will take the fight from Fury. “Where else are you going? What else are they going to do? You have another shot at a title, and this is the biggest fight in British history,” Bradley said.
