Chelsea announce Graham Potter as Head Coach on long-term contract

Chelsea have announced Graham Potter as their new head coach on a long-term contract.

The London club were quick to hire the former Brighton manager after sacking his predecessor Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning following Tuesday’s poor Champions League result.

Potter signs a five-year deal with Chelsea, according to the club’s website, and the Blues have secured a highly sought-after manager following their success in recent seasons.

The 47-year-old guided Brighton to their best league finish last season and started this campaign in impressive fashion, with the Seagulls currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table.

Chelsea will now look to build a long-term project under Potter’s watch, as the new Blues boss is set to start work immediately with the London club playing Fulham on Saturday.

I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Brighton & Hove Albion for allowing me this opportunity and in particular Tony Bloom and all the players, staff and supporters for their continued support during my time at the club.”

Speaking about Potter’s appointment, Todd Boehly said: “We are delighted to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven and innovative manager in the Premier League who fits our vision for the club. He is not only extremely talented on the pitch, but that he has skills and abilities that extend beyond the pitch and will make Chelsea a more successful Club.
