Klopp Doesn’t Fear Sack following Napoli Defeat

Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp does not fear dismissal after the Reds fell to a heavy defeat to Napoli in the Champions League, with the manager calling the club’s owners “calm”.

Two managers have already been sacked by Premier League clubs so far this season. Bournemouth have parted ways with Scott Parker after his terrible start to the season.

Thomas Tuchel was the next Premier League manager to be sacked. Chelsea had a mixed start to the season and the Blues relieved Tuchel of his duties after their loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Liverpool haven’t had the best of starts to the season either, with the Reds sitting in seventh place in the Premier League. They also suffered a heavy defeat in the Champions League when Napoli went on a rampage.

Speaking after Liverpool lost 4-1 to Napoli in the Champions League group stage, Klopp reacted to the question of whether he fears being sacked by the club.

Klopp insisted that he is not afraid of dismissal and indicated that the owners of Liverpool are different from those of Chelsea. He also added that the Liverpool owners expect him to fix the situation they are in.

“Not really, but who knows? There are different types of owners. Our owners are quite calm and they expect me to resolve the situation and they don’t expect someone else to do it,” Klopp said when asked if he fears he will leave.

“That’s how they always saw it and the day they change their minds maybe they’ll tell me.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s loss to Napoli was the heaviest a Premier League club has suffered in its Champions League opener since Arsenal lost 3-0 to Internazionale in 2003-04.

Liverpool were far from their best against Napoli, who scored three goals in the first half. Piotr Zielinski converted from the spot five minutes into the game to give Napoli the lead.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa then scored in the 31st minute to double their lead before Giovanni Simeone made it 3-0 in the 44th minute. Liverpool went into half-time trailing by three goals.

Liverpool then conceded their fourth goal of the game just two games after the game had been restarted after the half-time break. Zielinski scored his second in the 47th minute to send Napoli four goals up.

Liverpool finally pulled one back through Luis Diaz in the 49th minute, but that was it.
