Real Madrid news: The Spanish side have confirmed that Karim Benzema has suffered a hamstring injury during their Champions League win over Celtic.
Benzema was sent off in the 30th minute of the match after getting injured. Coach Carlo Ancelotti replaced the Frenchman with Eden Hazard on the half hour.
Speaking after the match, Ancelotti had downplayed fears that Benzema had suffered a serious injury. Ancelotti said the injury “doesn’t seem serious.”
The Whites have now issued a statement, confirming that the French international has suffered a hamstring injury.

The Spanish team said in a statement that Benzema ‘has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle and an overload on the quadriceps, both in the right thigh’.
Real Madrid are now ready to be without Benzema for at least three weeks after his injury.
Benzema has been impressive for Real Madrid this season, scoring four goals in six appearances so far for the Spanish side.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win over Celtic in the Champions League group stage. After a goalless first half, Real Madrid scored three goals in the second half to take all three points home.
Real Madrid opened the scoring in the 56th minute of the game, with a goal by Vinicius Jr. Fede Valverde’s cross from the right dismounted Vinicius Jr and the Brazilian converted.
Real Madrid made it 2-0 just four minutes later, with Hazard -who replaced Benzema- and Luka Modric scoring the goal. Hazard collected the ball from midfield and then took it from a Celtic player before giving it to Modric. The Croatian then showed great composure and made a great shot.
Hazard then added his name to the scoresheet, landing a simple finish from close range. Toni Kroos sent a cross into the area that Dani Carvajal finished off in front of goal for Hazard to finish off properly.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have made a stellar start to the 22/23 La Liga season. Real Madrid have won all four games they have played so far in the Spanish top flight this season.
The defending champions sit atop the league table with 12 points. They are two points ahead of second-placed Barcelona, who have 10 points from their first four games.
