Chelsea bosses reportedly had another candidate in mind after sacking Thomas Tuchel as manager yesterday.
The Blues have been heavily linked with both Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino, but it appears that some figures within the club were also interested in former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, according to Mail Plus.
The French strategist is one of the biggest names in world football since his playing days, and he has also had an excellent managerial career so far, winning the Champions League three times during his time in charge of the Bernabeu.
Chelsea could perhaps have done it with that kind of proven track record and experience, but the report suggests Zidane has an eye on the French national team.

However, Potter is an exciting candidate, having done a truly impressive job with Brighton in his time in the Premier League.
The Seagulls have been outperformers, beating some big names and always playing an expansive brand of football that has delivered impressive results.
It remains to be seen how Potter will deal with the increased pressure that comes with a big name like Chelsea, but it looks like he’s her choice now.
