Manchester United news: Manager Erik ten Hag has said that Cristiano Ronaldo is ready to start most of the Red Devils’ games.
Ronaldo has made just one start for Man Utd this season and has been limited to appearances off the bench in others.
His only start of the season came in Man Utd’s 4-0 loss to Brentford in their second game of the 22/23 Premier League season. Ten Hag left Ronaldo on the bench in the other five games they have played so far.
Ronaldo, who was Man Utd’s top scorer last season, has also failed to score a goal for the Red Devils so far this season despite making six appearances.
Manchester United news: ‘It’s ready to go’: Erik ten Hag on Cristiano Ronaldo
Speaking ahead of Man Utd’s 22/23 Europa League group stage match against Real Sociedad, Ten Hag said Ronaldo is ready to start in most of his matches.
“The [Ronaldo] he started against Brentford, not since, but he’s ready to go,” Ten Hag said. “Of course [he can start for the majority of games].”
Ronaldo had missed Man Utd’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to family problems.
Ten Hag has previously admitted he is worried about the Portuguese’s fitness after missing pre-season. He also indicated that Ronaldo has to contribute more in and out of possession as Man Utd has changed form.
Meanwhile, Man Utd have recovered from a dismal start to their 22/23 season. They started it with a loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. Man Utd hosted Brighton at Old Trafford in their opening game of the season and succumbed to a 2-1 loss.
Man Utd then suffered a heavier defeat in their next game as Brentford secured a 4-0 win. In a disastrous first half, Man Utd conceded four goals and were unable to find an answer in the second half.
Man Utd then secured their first win of the season by defeating Liverpool. The Red Devils hosted their bitter rivals at Old Trafford and inflicted a 2-1 loss at Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Man Utd met Southampton in their next game and recorded a 1-0 win. They won their next match by the same margin, defeating Leicester City.
Man Utd hosted league side Arsenal at Old Trafford in their previous game and did so four in a row. Ten Hag’s side cruised to a 3–1 victory over the Gunners to move up to fifth place in the league table.
