Carragher identifies problematic Klopp tactic that is costing Liverpool this term: ‘You have to adapt’

Jamie Carragher has urged Jurgen Klopp to abandon the high line that has become his Liverpool calling card in recent years.

The former Reds defender tweeted his thoughts online as the Merseysiders trailed 4-1 in Naples late in second-half action, noting the complete lack of intensity his former team offered.

Another loss at the Stadio Armando Diego Maradona will leave the German strategist with plenty of question marks for his players after only a handful showed any desire to win the match.

Harvey Elliott was once again our most reliable player in the middle of the park before Thiago Alcantara’s entry into the cauldron.

In fact, it was telling that the Spaniard registered three times as many duels on the ground than his 36-year-old teammate James Milner.

That’s not to attribute tonight’s performance to the veteran standard-setter: the Englishman shouldn’t start a Premier League game for us, let alone a Champions League tie.

However, if we are to take anything from another disappointing result in Naples, it is that we desperately need our No.6 fit and ready to contribute on a regular basis this season if we are to have any hope of rediscovering the kind of intensity that made us a quadruple contender last term.
