On the same day that Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel, RB Leipzig sacked their head coach, Domenico Tedesco.
On Tuesday, Tedesco led Leipzig to a 4-1 thrashing at home to Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk. Just three days earlier, Leipzig conceded four on the road to Eintracht Frankfurt. Leipzig currently have just one win from five games in the league. Die Roten Bullen is 11th in the Bundesliga with five points.
Tedesco took over the German club in December 2021. Back then, Leipzig struggled before the arrival of the Italian-German. Tedesco arrived in Leipzig with the club sitting 11th in the standings. However, he quickly makes a positive impact on the team, losing just twice in his first 16 Bundesliga games in charge.
However, not even a full season, RB Leipzig sacked Tedesco with the club in the same league position as when he arrived.
RB Leipzig fires Domenico Tedesco
“The decision to part ways with Domenico Tedesco was very difficult for us,” said Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff. “We had a very successful second half of last season under him and qualified for the Champions League. Under his leadership, we also won the DFB-Pokal, our first major title, and he was part of the most successful season in the history of our young club.”

“However, after our lackluster start to the Bundesliga season with five points from five matches, coupled with recent defeats to Eintracht and Shakhtar, we believe a change of direction is the right course of action to turn things around quickly.” .
In Europe, Tedesco led Leipzig to the Europa League semi-finals. Scottish giants Rangers, however, eliminated the Germans from the competition before the final.
Without a doubt, Tedesco’s greatest achievement in Leipzig was winning the DFB-Pokal. RB Leipzig beat Freiburg on penalties to win the club’s first major silver piece.
Despite his positive freshman season, Tedesco was unable to continue this success during the current campaign. Leipzig sits 11th in the Bundesliga table, with just one league win. The club’s next game is a tough test at home against Borussia Dortmund.
The search for a new manager seems to focus on Marco Rose, former manager of RB Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund. The club reportedly want to secure his services as quickly as possible.
