Kevin Cronin Confirms ‘The Rumours May be True’

By Kevin Croine [4(2)-0] he could have a domestic title buckled around his waist before November if things go according to plan.

The Kerry fighter will be looking to start putting a year of disappointments behind him when he finally returns to the ring later this month.

The Tralee native saw a number of fights fizzle out at the last minute in the second half of last year, the trend continued into the first six months of this year and his progress was delayed somewhat as a result.

However, he suggests he could enter 2023 as BUI Celtic champion and with an all-Irish win on his resume if he wins his next two fights.

Cronin, who trades leathers with Ryan Hibbert at AJ Bell Stadium, Eccles on Sept. 24, is rumored to be fighting an interesting Irish-to-Irish matchup at one of two shows to be held in Ireland on Nov. 19, and when the Irish put under pressure -boxing.com, the 26-year-old was only too happy to feed the speculation.

“The rumors may be true,” he says.

“We’re doing everything we can on our side to tie it down and on our side we haven’t had a problem with anything! I have to stay focused on September 24 before building anything beyond that, but it seems very possible.”

Cronin has been linked to an all-Irish clash with Jamie Morrissey [391)-0] but considering the Limerick fighter is out twice in October, first against Ben McGivern for the BUI super-middleweight title in Scotland and then his American debut in Boston, an all-Munster clash won’t stand a chance. for November.

However, with both proving their fandom on a national level and with the possibility of both having title wins under their belts in the winter, he could set up a mouth-watering Irish title fight early next year.

“It would be a great fight at some point,” says Cronin. “I wish him nothing but the best in his title fight, but at the moment I hope to have my own domestic title fight to fight after Manchester, so I’m not thinking too much about that right now. So let’s see how things go.”
