It’s easy to criticize Barcelona’s transfer policy in recent years, but it’s hard to think of many who wasted money like Miralem Pjanic did.
His move from Juventus also saw Artur Melo move in the opposite direction, which may also have been a mistake, but the Bosnian star only played in 19 La Liga games in his only season at the Camp Nou before being loaned out to Besiktas.
His salary is also substantial, although the amount is publicly confirmed, it is estimated that he was earning around £270,000 a week for the majority of his contract in Spain, so taking him off the books is exactly the right thing for Barca to do.

It won’t be enough to fund any new additions, but getting a fee and also taking his salary off the books is a welcome move for Barca and gives Pjanic a chance to play regular football again.
