Bobby Duncan slams ex-agent Rubie in eye-opening response on LFC exit

Bobby Duncan will always be known as Steven Gerrard’s cousin and the person who squandered his chance to be a Liverpool player on the advice of his agent.

Despite being just 21 years old, the Whiston-born striker has had a crazy career that saw him leave the Reds in 2019.

The decision at the time was met with much media scrutiny, as it seemed he had decided he deserved first-team football and headed to Fiorentina, with many pointing fingers at his agent Saif Rubie.

Now, in response to his now-ex-manager’s decision to speak out about the player on TalkSPORT, the former Derby County player has spoken out on his Twitter account.

Through a message thread about the event, some excerpts include: ‘You and I know the truth.

You think you have the right to mention my name on a live radio show. I will tell the truth myself when the time is right.

I should never have left my career in your hands. I have learned my hard lesson there. And I only pray that you have learned yours, as it could ruin another young man’s career.”

It’s a very public dispute between two parties, and many probably think it doesn’t reflect well on either side, although the former Manchester City academy prospect has been forced to respond in this case.

Our former player is now plying his trade with Real Balompedica Linense in the third division of Spanish football.

Whatever advice was received or not, everyone lost in this deal and the £1.8m fee our club received was perhaps the only benefit to come out of it all.

A truly sad career loss, with even more controversy now surrounding someone still so young.
