Arsenal news: Manager Mikel Arteta has criticized VAR’s lack of consistency after the Gunners fell in a loss to Man Utd.
Man Utd ended Arsenal’s perfect start to the season at Old Trafford, defeating the visitors 3-1. The result might have been different if Arsenal had not seen a goal disallowed after VAR intervention.
Arsenal thought they had broken the tie when Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 11th minute of the match. But VAR advised referee Paul Tierney to watch the replay for a possible foul.
Tierney then ruled out the goal after watching the incident on the field monitor. The goal was disallowed after Tierney ruled that Martin Odegaard fouled Christian Eriksen in the build-up.

Speaking after the match, Arteta criticized the lack of consistency in VAR.
“Lack of consistency. One is soft and last week they needed Aaron [Ramsdale] but it’s soft, it’s not a foul,” Arteta said on Sky Sports.
And he added: “There is a foul on Bukayo [Saka]It is soft but not a pity. Today is missing. The threshold in the first action, you could see that there is no yellow card because they want to keep a threshold in a big game. Really hard to understand.”
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford scored a brace and Antony marked his club debut with a goal as Man Utd secured a 3-1 win. It was Bukayo Saka who scored Arsenal’s only goal in the match.
Antony put Man Utd ahead in the 35th minute of the match. The three forwards combined for the goal, with Jadon Sancho passing Marcus Rashford, who slipped past Antony. The Brazilian winger spread his body wide and bent the ball into the far corner to send Man Utd a goal up.
Saka scored Arsenal’s equalizer in the 60th minute of the match, but Man Utd soon regained the lead. Rashford made it 2-1 for Man Utd in the 66th minute, finishing off a play started by Bruno Fernandes.
Rashford scored his second and third Man Utd goals of the match in the 75th minute, scoring from close range after Eriksen squared the ball to him.
The win saw Man Utd move up to fifth in the table on 12 points, while Arsenal remain top of the league on 15 points.
