WBA No. 12 Super Bantamweight Ra’eese Aleem (20-0, 12 KO’s) won a dominant but close unanimous decision over Mike Plania (26-2, 13 KO’s) of the Philippines to headline the FS1 card on Saturday at night at the Crypto .com Arena in downtown Los Angeles. Aleem knocked Plana down early in the second round when the fight was going at a fast pace. Despite being knocked down, Plania pressed on while Aleem boxed.
Past the midway point and looming in the sixth, Plania continued to push forward as Aleem’s cunning was getting to the Filipino. Keeping his composure, Plania kept up the pace in the seventh, Aleem made a game of chess fighting smartly in the ring timing and finding the openings. Late in the fight, the Filipino kept pressing with Aleem showing composure fighting off the jab and following up solidly. In the tenth and final round, Aleem upped the pace and the pressure, letting go of his hands as he stood in the pocket with Plania. Finishing strong, Aleem attacked because he didn’t want to leave it up to the judges who pushed Plania into the ropes in the closing.
After ten rounds, all three judges scored the fight 100-89 when Aleem threw a shutout.
