Michael Conlan Reveals Next Fight Date

michael conan [17(8)-1(1)] he’s back at camp preparing for his next fight.

The Belfast featherweight says he will retire as soon as December 10 and will look to add another win to his record before the year is out.

“I’ll be back on December 10, it looks like Belfast again, back in the SSE,” he told Boxing Social. “That’s the plan. We were hoping we could do something [ with Leigh Wood] but we always had to have our own plan and that’s why I went right back into the business and fought in August.”

Conlan was last seen in action defeating three-time world title challenger Miguel Marriaga in his first fight since suffering the first setback of his career at the hands of Leigh Wood in Nottingham in March.

Speaking after the Return of the Mick win at the sold-out SSE, the only Irish male wrestler to win World Championship gold said his focus had switched to taking titles without taking revenge.

Conlan said he wants belts more than revenge and is open to fighting any of the reigning 126-pound champions.

“I want to fight for a world title as soon as possible.”

Champions include former Carl Frampton foes Leo Santa Cruz and Josh Warrington, Emanuel Navarrete and Rey Vargas. They are all big names, but they are all achievable goals and all fights where the Irish star would be safe.

I will fight any of them. I want to fight for a world title, so what’s next is what’s next,” he added in speaking last month.

A world title fight with any of the aforementioned seems unlikely for December. Not to mention, the rumor mill has been churning out two very interesting names, neither of whom are current world champions. Isaac Dogboe in New York and Jazza Dickens in Belfast have been mentioned as winter possibilities.
