A total of 10 on loan from Liverpool were in action over the weekend, and Conor Bradley was once again the star, scoring and assisting for Bolton.
After a busy cap day that saw four more youngsters go out on loan, the youngsters and fringe players returned to the pitch away from Anfield.
But none of those who made moves before the deadline on Thursday appeared at their clubs, with Max Woltman and Jack Bearne unused substitutes for Doncaster and Kidderminster Harriers.
Fidel O’Rourke was not part of the Caernarfon Town squad at Broughton’s home ground, while Paul Glatzel continues his rehabilitation from a long-term injury at Tranmere.
However, it was a productive weekend overall, and particularly for Bradley, who made his tenth appearance for Bolton as they hosted Charlton.
The 19-year-old, who found his home as a right-back, played a pivotal role in the 3-1 win by scoring his team’s first goal and then setting up the second.
Bradley’s shot came in the ninth minute, an opportunistic shot at the far post canceled out Scott Fraser’s first goal, and before half-time Kieran Lee converted his misguided shot to put Bolton ahead.
Now that’s three goals and three assists in 10 games for the teenager.
“I don’t want to set him up to fail,” Bolton manager Ian Evatt said. “But Conor is a top player.
“He has the attributes and, more importantly, the mindset and attitude to make it to the top.”
Owen Beck watched, having swapped Famalicao for Bolton in a surprise move late in the window, with the Welshman eager to join Bradley on the pitch in the near future.
There were also two clean sheets for those on loan from Liverpool, with Marcelo Pitaluga recording his last shutout as Macclesfield beat West Didsbury & Chorlton 1-0 in the FA Cup first qualifying round.
In League Two, Vitezslav Jaros continued to cement his role as Stockport’s starting goalkeeper with his third clean sheet in six outings.
Elsewhere in the Championship there were starts for Tyler Morton and Rhys Williams for Blackburn and Blackpool respectively.
Morton now appears to have claimed a starting role at Rovers, playing the full 90 minutes at the base of midfield in a 3-2 loss to Bristol City, while Williams played 68 in a 1-0 win over Huddersfield.
In Scotland, Leighton Clarkson started again at Aberdeen but was dropped before equalizer in a 1-1 draw at Ross County.
Further afield, Sepp van den Berg made his first start for Schalke when they visited Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, alongside Maya Yoshida in central defense in a 1-1 draw.
Billy Koumetio came off at half-time as Austria Lustenau drew Austria Wien, and the 2-2 draw prompted further questions about his role from fans.
Finally, Anderson Arroyo reverted to right-back in Alavés’ 1-1 draw with Las Palmas.
