30-year-old ‘willing to leave Liverpool’ if don’t qualify for Champions League

Liverpool supporters had hoped this campaign would be similar to last and that we would once again be able to compete for several major trophies, instead we are now fighting to secure Champions League football and this could have some outbound transfer implications.

As reported by Fijaches (in Spanish) [via BBC Sport]: ‘The Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah would be willing to leave Liverpool in the summer if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League next season’.

This seems pretty incredible as Mo Salah signed a new contract last summer and despite obviously also expecting and wishing for better performances from the team around him, he has tied his long-term future to the club.

It’s no secret that the Reds have had to spend big to convince our Egyptian king to stay at the club, but he’s also pledged that we’ll all hope he’s stronger than a bad season on the pitch.

Therefore, we can probably file this story as one that is probably not true and probably comes from the Spanish press who are hoping to force one of the best players in world soccer to move to their league.

With these next few months before the end of the campaign and the opening of the transfer window, we can probably also expect a summer of similar rumors continuing to be shared with similar levels of reliability.
